Fall Color Palettes

Fall in Indiana is absolutely beautiful with the changing leaves and golden sunsets. When thinking about colors, think the muted version of those colors. Mix and match your favorite tones by picking 1-2 dominant colors, with some accents of textures and patterns. Neutrals are always a good idea to mix in and I highly recommend keeping some neutral in your color palette! Below are some examples of fall color palettes to help you get started. I even linked every item under the photo for your convenience!

Tips + Advice

  • Layers! Add layers such as cardigans, vests + different textures to elevate your style!

  • Avoid super matchy-matchy. Aim for a combination of coordinating colors, patterns, and textures.

  • Think about movement. Long, flowy dresses are wonderful + create beautiful movement.

  • Accessorize! Necklaces, earrings, hats, headbands.

  • Don't forget to coordinate the shoes. A beautiful earthy outfit with a pair of bright red sneakers will clash.

  • Avoid large graphics/logos on shirts if you can. I don't mind the small "Carhartt" logo (or similar), but large graphics taking up the entire front of the shirt can distract from your face!

  • Most important, wear what feels like you. If you want to wear jeans, you can totally rock that. A nice top, layered cardigan + cute booties can elevate a nice pair of jeans!

These are YOUR photos + I want you to be happy with them. That means you need to feel + look great, but also feel like yourself. Just because I suggested flowy dresses, that doesn't mean you have to wear a dress. If jeans and a cute top is more your style, by all means wear that! I am going to be more than happy to photograph you and your family in whatever feels like you. This post is simply to help those who may want some extra help when it comes to outfits!
